The Meeker boys’ varsity basketball team was led by seniors Dylan Mobley and Jeremy Musgrave to a regional championship and was one of the state Class 2A “Elite Eight” teams, playing in the 2014 Colorado State Basketball Championships. The senior duo was supported by junior starters Raul Lopez and Joe Newman and sophomore Ty Dunham. Sophomore Kash Atwood played quality minutes all season, and although the starting five will graduate two, juniors Cade Rowlett, Tony Collins and Matt Frantz, sophomores Jake Smith and Tom Chitwood and freshman Clay Anderson will return with state experience. Junior Jake Phelan, who was injured in football, missed the entire basketball season but is also expected to return.
