RANGELY I “Hello” and “welcome” are words John Whipple says he keeps hearing all around the Colorado Northwest Community College campus as the new outdoor leadership coordinator.
“It has been a warm welcome to say the least, and I hope to reciprocate those kind gestures this year through my role as the outdoor leadership coordinator at CNCC,” he said.
John Whipple moved to Rangely from Ohio and has a full agenda ahead of him as he plans to expand the existing program.
“Clients are already signing up to do team building on the ropes course, and sessions are being planned for students, faculty and staff for a busy fall semester,” he said.
Along with running the challenge course, Whipple will be teaching an outdoor leadership class as part of the LeaderTrek learning community.
“Between classes and clients, I will be helping out with the Outdoor Recreation Program and planning some amazing trips for the upcoming school year,” he said. “I have many ideas for great projects, trips, programs and learning experiences. I am excited to get started and feel like I have hit the ground running.”
Whipple said that if anyone has ideas for the upcoming year, he would like to hear about those ideas, and if a class or department would like to do team building, the cost is free for students, staff and faculty.
“Feel free to stop by my office anytime at 247 McLaughlin,” Whipple said.
