Doris Warren passed away Dec. 31, 2011, at Pioneers Hospital in Meeker. She spent the last seven years in the Walbridge Wing.
Doris was the third daughter of Clyde and Goldie Wilson Stephenson, local pioneers, and was born Jan.28, 1923. She attended Meeker schools. She worked at First National Bank several years before running for Rio Blanco County Treasurer, a job at which job she worked five terms — 19 years — before retiring in 1986.
Doris married Harold Warren May 7, 1944. Harold and Doris lived in Rio Blanco County all their lives and were third generation residents. They lived on several ranches around Meeker before moving into town.
Doris had many Meeker friends and established friendships with many of Harold’s hunting buddies. After retiring, Doris enjoyed camping, fishing with close friends and traveling.
She was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church and P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization).
Preceding Doris in death were her parents, Clyde and Goldie Stephenson, husband Harold Warren, sister Mavis Ferguson and sister Zelda Frandson. She is survived by nieces and nephews Stephen and James Ferguson and Eric, Stephanie and Mark Frandson. She is also survived by Harold’s sisters Betty Kincher and Charlotte Wix and his nieces and nephews, the Kincher kids Lois, Russell and Fay; the Wix kids Lisa, Kim, Steve and John; and Billy Warren and Kathy Warren.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, at Highland Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will also be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Rio Blanco Funeral Homes.
