Lifelong Meeker resident Frances E. Woolley, 80, died Oct. 19, 2009, at Pioneers Medical Center.
Frances Estel Woolley was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Meeker, the daughter of Raymond and Estel (Aicher) Woolley. She attended Meeker schools and was graduated from Rio Blanco County High School. Following her graduation, she attended Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, where she was a member of the Sigma Alpha Honorary Sorority.
On June 15, 1949, Miss Frances began working for White River Electric, a career that would span 48 years until her retirement on Aug. 31, 1997. She was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church and enjoyed fishing and traveling and especially the time she spent with her sister doing archaeological digs. In recent years, she received much love and comfort from her cat, Muffy.
Survivors include one nephew, Steve Mantle of Wheatland, Wyo., and his children Bryan, Nick and Kally.
Her parents and one sister, Laura Sue, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 23 at St. James Church with the Rev. Scott Hollenbeck officiating. Interment was made in the Highland Cemetery. Friends may make memorial contributions to the church.
Cochran Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
