Coal Ridge
An April 16 track meet in Coal Ridge included the most Panther athletes yet. Fortunately, our baseball players could join us and add points to the boys’ team.
To start, the Lady Panthers took ninth place in the 4×200 relay with a time of 2:06.42. Participants were Kelsey Prosser, Heather Turner, Brittany Babineaux and Victoria Phelan. In the long jump, Phelan placed fifth with her best jump of 14-03. She also placed sixth in the triple jump with a jump of 30-02.
For the boys, Cole Barlow ran the 200 for Patrick Phelan, due to an injury. Cole placed seventh with a time of 24.29. William Scoggins placed fourth in the 3,200 with a time of 11:48.45. The boys’ relay team took seventh place in the 4×100 M. Participants were Ethan Peacock, Logan Osborne, Barlow and Jason Stults as the anchor. The boys’ 4×800 relay took ninth place with a time of 9:56.18. Those runners included Colton Coombs, Scoggins, Justin Prosser and Mark Perzinski. Baseball player Kindal Cushman took ninth place at his first meet of the season at the boys shot put with a distance of 37-09.
The throwers did great all around this weekend. The meet in Coal Ridge was a good meet for most of the athletes. In boys’ shot put, Colton Coombs, a freshman, threw 29-0, which is his personal best so far at a meet. Chase Kinney threw a 33-9, which is one of his best for the season so far. In girls’ shot, Dawnee Mills, got a personal best throwing 15-10, Lilly Urbanik, also with a personal best, threw 15-11, and PJ Hernandez threw her personal best at 21-3. Marie Morton and Holly Lepro both made it to the finals in the shot put. Marie took seventh place throwing 30-4, and Holly took fourth place throwing 31-0.
In boys’ discus, Chase Kinney threw close to his personal best at 98-10, and Cushman threw an 86-3, which was his first official mark. In girls’ discus, Mills, Urbanik, and Hernandez threw their personal bests at 37-5, 27-9, and 56-0. Lepro threw a 77-3.
