MEEKER I Ask any local and they’ll tell you one of Meeker’s best annual events is the 4th of July Range Call Celebration.
It’s so much fun, in fact, the Range Call committee is giving everyone an opportunity to celebrate Range Call in January this year with a New Year’s Eve dance sponsored by Meeker Range Call and Meeker Lodging Tax. Local proceeds will support Range Call 2012.
With a live band (Straight Shot), a cash bar provided by the Lions Club, snacks, a photo booth to memorialize the occasion and the requisite new year’s hats and noisemakers, the event promises to be a great way to ring in the new year with family and friends while generating much-needed financial support for Range Call.
“We will be giving away a few wristbands to the 2012 4th of July event,” said Suzan Pelloni, Range Call committee chairperson.
The dance will begin at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31 at the new 4-H building at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds and last until 1 a.m. The cover charge is $5 for adults over 21 and $3 for young adults (under 21).
“We are allowing under 21. Everyone will be wristbanded accordingly and watched carefully,” said Pelloni.
And for safety’s sake, “James’ Bus,” will provide a tipsy taxi service for attendees. The taxi, operating on a donation basis, “will pick you up and take you home.” The service is sponsored by the family of James Sizemore, who was killed in an avalanche last spring. Donations will benefit the James Sizemore Memorial Fund.
“I think it is great that they are putting on this event,” said Katelin Cook, Meeker Chamber of Commerce director. “Everyone around town is excited to have something to do. The proceeds go to a great event which boosts our local economy, and the band is guaranteed to be great!”
