RANGELY | The Rangely eighth grade class of 2022 journeyed to Denver last week, leaving Sunday and returning late Tuesday.
The class had the opportunity to meet Representative Bob Rankin and sit on the House Floor on Monday. During the session, the Colorado Auctioneers Association auctioned off a Colorado flag that had flown over the capitol building. Representative Rankin won the bid then preceded to present the flag to the eighth graders. After the session, the class was given a tour of the capitol building, where they were privileged with being allowed to go up to the dome and enjoy the amazing view and weather of Denver.
Following the tour, the class ate lunch in a park, then headed to the History Colorado Museum. While in the museum, eighth graders were given the chance to experience the effects of a dust storm (without all the dust), see an exhibit on the Denver Bears, and many other hands-on experiences. Later that day, the class went to the Denver Art Museum, where they got to see a plethora of different art and create some of their own.
Monday night the eighth graders spent time at the 16th Street Mall. The class rode the train all the way to the Millennium Bridge then walked back to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner.
Tuesday morning the class journeyed through the Denver Zoo before finishing their trip off at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. The museum had two special exhibits that the students could choose to see, the Dead Sea Scrolls or the Planetarium.
