RANGELY — It’s back to the drawing board in the search for a new school superintendent.
The Rangely School Board’s first choice declined.
“Barry did not take the job,” said School Board President Matt Scoggins, referring to Phillip Williams, who goes by his middle name, Barry, a principal from Wise County, Va.
Scoggins received word from Williams on Tuesday morning.
“We have opened negotiations up with Dr. Pat Cullen, but will not know until today or tomorrow,” Scoggins said Wednesday.
The other finalists for the job were: Patrick Cullen, school superintendent in Oberlin, Kan., and James Szoka, principal at Monte Vista High School. The finalists were interviewed April 3 and 4.
