• This week Oldland and Company are advertising a 40th anniversary sale at their Meeker store.
• Mr. H.F. Arnold has purchased the Sheridan Dairy route in Meeker and will operate it with his White River Creamery. When Mr. James Sheridan sold his river ranch, 2 miles east of town, he decided to dispose of his dairy route in town. He will continue to run his bunch of dairy stock at the Bar 7 ranch.
• At Safeway: Peanut butter — 2 pounds for 35 cents. Cigarettes — Camels, Luckies and Chesterfields — $1.15 a carton. Flour, 48 lbs., $1.79.

• The Meeker Cafe and Lounge changed ownership again last week. Loren Porter and Henry Wallace of Rangely are the new owners.
• Twenty-five years ago James Lyttle, the veteran editor of the Meeker Herald, went to Meeker and started a paper on the strength of a rumor that a railroad would soon be built to that thriving town.
• The theme for this year’s Range Call is “Tribute to Pioneers.”

• The 78th annual Rio Blanco County Oldtimers Reunion was attended by more than 450 participants.
• White River stream flow only 35 percent of average. Piceance Creek only 8 percent of normal.
• The calendar said it was the first of June, but it looked more like the first of January as a surprise snowstorm blew in to the White River Valley.”

• Donna Olree was the first subscription contest winner. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Olree of Rangely.
• “There was a time when the Bible was always seen in the grandparents’ living room. Lately its place has been taken by a publication called ‘Your Rights Under Social Security.’”

• Rangely has a new physician. Scott Hobson, M.D. will open a practice on June 9 in Family Practice with Obstetrics at the Rangely Medical Center.
• Square dance workshop at the old Elementary School gym.
