MEEKER I The Meeker High School wrestling team hosted the first annual OHV poker run fundraiser Sunday last. Forty riders started at the North Fork campground and completed the Dead Horse Loop in the White River National Forest. Thirteen high school wrestlers and coaches J.C. Watt and Lee Overton set up camp and the checkpoints on the course last Saturday and spent the night in the rain, which didn’t damper the fun.
“It was a good camping experience and great team builder,” Watt said of the weekend.
Riders played more than 60 hands, with Kevin Brown winning $100 for the best hand and Rich Bland won $100 for the worst hand. Many other prizes were donated and hot dogs and hamburgers were provided for everyone after the ride.
“I would like to especially thank Mike and Kathy Sizemore for bringing up the James Sizemore bus and helping with registration,” Watt said. “It was really nice of them to do.”
