November incidents up 15.3 percent

RBC — The combined incidents for the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office and the Meeker Police Department rose significantly during November 2008, with a 15.3 percent increase in activity compared to November 2007.
Total incidents received through the communications center increased to 913, up from 792 in 2007. The number of calls for service increased for the sheriff’s office with 282 incidents in 2008, up from 243 in 2007. The number of traffic stops also increased from 343 in 2007 to 380 in 2008 for the sheriff’s office. The Meeker Police Department responded to 195 calls for service during November 2008, up from 149 in 2007. Traffic stops for the Meeker PD stayed the same with 21 stops in November 2008 and November 2007.
Activity for both agencies includes these most notable classifications: 401 traffic stops; 41 animal calls; 39 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol; 35 motorist assists; 34 VIN inspections; 33 suspicious incidents; 30 traffic complaints; 27 citizen assists; 23 accidents with property damage; 23 warrant arrests; 21 traffic arrests; 18 thefts; 16 civil situations; 11 disturbances; 11 jail transports; ten narcotics cases; nine incidents assisting the Division of Wildlife; seven property cases; six hit and run accidents; five criminal mischief cases; five juvenile problems; five trespass cases; four domestic violence cases; four DUIs; three fires; two injury accidents; two burglaries; two fraud cases; two search and rescues; one automobile theft; one harassment case; one restraining order violation and one unattended death.
The Rio Blanco County Detention Center continued to operate at maximum capacity during November 2008 housing an average daily inmate population of 19 inmates, with 18.13 males and 0.87 females, up slightly compared to the October 2008 census. However, bookings decreased in November 2008 with 85 people processed in the detention center. Of the 85 people processed, 65 were jailed and 20 were booked and released. With the slight increase in inmate population, the number of meals served by the detention center also increased slightly to 1,515 meals served, up from 1,502 meals served in October 2008.
