HOME OF: Jim and Mary Dillon

RANGELY | Jim and Mary Dillon of Rangely are this week’s “home of” honorees. The Dillons have lived here 10 years. Mary is from Chicago and Jim attended the University of Chicago for grad school. Jim met Mary when they both worked at the Montgomery Ward corporate headquarters in Chicago. They have been married 27 years. Jim has his MBA with dual degrees in finance and statistics. He took an “alternative teacher” test when he moved here and taught middle school math for six years. Rangely District Hospital hired him as its chief financial officer when it reorganized.Mary is the WIC coordinator for Rio Blanco County.The Dillons have six children: son James Dillon III and his wife Vivian of Rangely (James will be working at Eagle Crest); son Douglas Dillon is a mechanic for the Rangely School District; daughter Rosalind Dillon is a senior at CU-Boulder majoring in pre-med and international affairs; daughter Jessica is studying special education online at Western Governor’s University; son Michael is a CNCC sophomore and is planning to study engineering at the Colorado School of Mines; and daughter Rachel is a sophomore Connections Academy online high school student.“We like to go four-wheeling, do things around the house, go out to eat, do things with the kids. Our kids keep us busy. I also enjoy hunting and Mary enjoys cooking for people,” Jim said.“I like the small town. I grew up in Montrose when it was like Rangely. I like where Rangely is. The people here are very nice. We lived in Chicago for 10 years. Rangely is much more relaxing,” Jim added.
