n The Rio Blanco County High School report for last month is as follows: Pupils enrolled, 46. Average daily attendance, 42. Number tardy, 3.
n Rev. F.M. Bacon returned Wednesday from a missionary trip in Moffat County. He held services in Axial, Maybell, the Cross Mountain school house and Lily Park, with good attendances at each place.

n Mr. and Mrs. Morris Amick were Denver and Boulder visitors Saturday. Morris took out cattle and then the Amicks when to visit their son Bob and to take in the Colorado-Missouri football game.
n A white-tailed deer, considered extremely rare in Western Colorado, was killed by local hunter Otto Shults west of here last week.
n At Burt’s Baby and Variety Shop: One lot winter dresses reduced to $5.
n We will pay you! $10 for your old dress coat, $5 for your old car coat on trade-in for new coat or car coat. Old coats given to charity. At Avery’s, Meeker’s house of fashion.
n Mr. and Mrs. John Oldland entertained the staff of their store, wives and husbands, at a steak dinner at the White River restaurant. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Benner, Mr. and Mrs. DeWayne Merriam, Mrs. Katherine Butler, Mrs. Eleanor Jones, Mrs. Micky Reagle and the hosts’ daughter, Mary Margaret Oldland.

n An intensive two-day search in the Yellow Jacket area for a 42-year-old California man ended in failure this past Sunday as his  body was found face down in the snow. He had apparently passed away from exposure. That brings this year’s hunter-related death toll to four.
n Sales in Rio Blanco County down 4.5 percent for first quarter of 1986.
n Ute Lodge destroyed in fire Monday night. Despite attempts to stop the blaze, the old log building, which is currently owned by Buck and Gloria Pollard, went up in flames.
n Barone Junior High Honor Roll: (Eighth grade) Lena Bates, Kila Campbell, Laura Cox, Brandi Evoniuk, Pegge Halandras, Denise Jordan, Kayn Michels, Vonda Kay Vandiver and Chris Washburn. (Seventh grade) Karrin Borchard, Katie Ertmer, Bailey Franklen, Stormy Goick, Stacy Hayes, Beth Ann Jones, Amy Joy, DeAnn Kraft, Mistalyn Livingston.

Rangely Times — 45 years ago
n Last Thursday the College Board approved a new program to be designated as “Aerospace” which the college hopes to initiate in the fall quarter of 1967.
n Jaycee clubs in Colorado will hold their annual summer conference in Rangely next year.
n The Rio Blanco County chapter of the American Red Cross has sent 110 ditty bags to American soldiers in Vietnam.
n Now that Main Street sidewalks are nearly completed, bicycle riders are cautioned that they are for pedestrian use only.

Rangely Times — 35 years ago
n Throat cultures were taken on all school children, kindergarten through eighth grade, Tuesday by a Department of Public Health representative from Denver. The screening was done because of the many positive strep throat culture reports in Rangely in the last few weeks.
n Ten Rangely High School students were named to the Honor Roll for the first quarter: Cheryl Barnhart, Nancy Bruckner, Carla Dey, Carrie Smith, Chris Conroy, Calvin Hazlewood, Sam Tolley, Eloise Klements and Teri Striegel.
n Raisin country sandwich: Combine ´ cup grated apple, ´ cup grated carrot, ¨ cup finely chopped celery, 2 T. finely chopped green onion, ¨ cup coarsely chopped raisins, ´ cup grated cheddar cheese, ¨ tsp. seasoned salt and 2 T. mayonnaise. Spread between buttered slices of raisin bread.

Rangely Times — 25 years ago
n The Deseret-Western Railway celebrated the transport of its first million tons of coal from the Deserado Mine to Deseret Generation and Transmission Cooperative’s Bonanza Power Plant.
n Lyle and Diane Peterson announce the birth of their son Jacob Tyler. He was born Nov. 2, 1986 at 2:18 a.m. at Rangely District Hospital.
