The Meeker Herald — 100 years ago
• Owing to delay in getting material from the outside, work on the new Catholic church has been suspended till next spring.
• Fred Burke and family of Piceance Creek returned Thursday from a visit to Denver.
• Fred Carstens superintended the work of rebuilding a large section of the Miller Creek ditch.
• Mountain sheep were seen in the vicinity of Meeker.

The Meeker Herald — 50 years ago
• The junior class play, “Trail of the Lonesome Pine,” was well attended on both nights. The cast was composed of Peggy Conrado, Roberta Kehrberger, Ray McKee, Gary Steen, Patsy French, Jim Whalin, Linda Hess, Owen Stack, Connie Theos, Karen Fehlman, Scott Wigington, Jay Joy, Sandra Amick and Cynthia Blumhagen.
• Jack Findlay, 13-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Findlay, while reaching up to ward off a gun which went off when it fell from a gun rack at the family home suffered an injured right hand. The bullet broke the first finger and hurt the next finger.

The Meeker Herald — 25 years ago
• Playing the lead roles in this fall’s MHS play, “The Star-Spangled Girl” by Neil Simon, are Justin Seely, Mike Parr and Bobbie Jo Tucker.
• Kay Bivens was recognized by the 4-H Foundation as being the only leader in Rio Blanco County who had all 4-H members in her club turn in progress review or national report forms.

Rangely Times — 45 years ago
• Rangely’s star halfback, Pete Miller, won the 1966 Northwest AA scoring crown with 54 points scored in the five league contests.
• Enjoying Rangely’s new sidewalks were Dick Sharpe, chamber president, and Father John LePenske Sr., of St. Ignatius’ Church. The two walked from one end of Main Street to the other and back Wednesday morning, a distance of exactly two miles.

Rangely Times — 35 years ago
• Middle School students of the month are Shanna Fullbright, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Gall of Rangely, and David Leavitt, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Leavitt.
• Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Olson of Loveland announce the Oct. 27 arrival of twin daughters, Andrea Lynn and Brynn Michelle. The mother is the former Cheryl Striegel of Rangely.

Rangely Times — 25 years ago
• New faces in Rangely are Ronald and Bonnie Quinn and their children, Eddie, Brian and Holly. They are the new managers of the Escalante Trail Motel.
• The Stanley Rasmussen family attended the Eastern Utah Pigeon Club Fancy Pigeon Show in Duchesne, Utah. The took five pigeons for judging and won three first place ribbons and two second place ribbons.
• Thanksgiving specials at Bestway: 2 lb. bag carrots, 45 cents; dinner rolls, 69 cents.
Libby 29 oz. can pumpkin, 99 cents.
