– The Shepherd hardware store will open Monday.
– Snow was eight feet deep at the Wilson Park saw mill last Saturday.
– F.E. Sheridan returned from Denver early in the week, after attending to the hopeless task of trying to get the warring Republicans into the Taft corral.
– The next event of importance will be the St. Patrick’s Ball, given under the auspices of the Catholic Ladies’ society.

The Meeker Herald — 50 years ago
– David E. Henderson of Craig was killed Sunday morning of this week in an accident at the Wilson Creek oil field while using a bulldozer to maintain the roads.
– Young ladies who modeled for the fashion show at the A. Oldland & Company store last week were Katherine Jacobs, Linda Clark, Karen Carstens, Barbara Kennedy, Heather Jensen, Judy Moody, Mary Ann Wilber, Sandra Amick, Sherri Klinglesmith, Little Lora Morland, Mary Margaret Oldland and Myrna Merriam. The door prizes were won by Dorcas Jensen and Jean Winslett.
– Ray McKee won the state wrestling championship at 180 pounds. Also wrestling for the Meeker matmen: George Nay, Lance Rogers, John Whalin, Bob Crook, Ray Devereaux, Mark Sheridan, Dick George, Bob Ruckman, Harry Tucker,Tom Pilkington and Bill Lake.

– For the 25th time, a Meeker High School wrestler has his hand raised after winning a state championship. Lenny Klinglesmith was the best 145-pound AA wrestler in the state. The Cowboys finished second as a team.
– If even half the rumors are true about the new owner of the Bar Bell Ranch, Malcomb Bricklin, the valley’s newest resident is sure to make some things happen around here.
– Congratulations are in order to Coach Paul Starbuck who is scheduled to be inducted into the Colorado Coaches Hall of Fame.
– The MHS boys’ basketball team: Rodney Dunham, Chad Johnson, Mike Ottosen, Todd Shults, Vaughn Jones, Vince Vandiver, Jeff Beason, Leif Joy, Mike Parr, Kirk Henderson, Rex Copeland, Steve Rodriguez.
– The MHS girls’ varsity basketball team: Tina Brown, Trish Bishop, Jen Coryell, Kellie Borchard, Christie Parker, Bobbie Jo Tucker, Mindy Clapper, Lynn Sprod, Amy Shults and Amy Orris.

Rangely Times — 45 years ago
– KREX TV of Grand Junction may be available to Rangley viewers in the near future if FCC approval can be secured.
– The men who robbed the Bestway Store last November have been sentenced to eight years in the penitentiary.
– The Panthers moved back into undisputed possession of the top spot in the Northwestern League race Friday night.

Rangely Times — 35 years ago
– A special committee of the Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce has been studying the prospects of the construction of a dam and reservoir east of Rangely.
– Scott Blevins, Matt Ott and Michael Teutsch built model bridges that qualified for the State Model Bridge Contest.
– CNCC archers, coached by Don Collier, made the championship flight at the collegiate division championships in Las Vegas, Nev.
– RHS cheerleader Valerie Bock was named All-Northwestern AA League wrestling cheerleader at Battle Mountain for the 1976-77 season.
– Drew Hogan and Shari Crooks were the February students-of-the-month at Rangely Middle School.

Rangely Times — 25 years ago
– RHS seniors Todd Carlson placed sixth and Mark Wilczek placed second at the state wrestling tournament. Junior Brett Powell also placed second.
