The Meeker Herald — 100 years ago
– The town board of registration met Tuesday and enrolled more than 500 voters. The complete registration will foot up nearly 550.
– Dr. Montgomery was up on upper Coal Creek in the early part of the week, on professional duties, and found the snow four feet deep in Henry Park.
– The Denver & Rio Grand has bought the Colorado & Southern’s half interest in the Midland. What effect this will have on prospective railroad building in this county remains to be seen.

The Meeker Herald — 50 years ago
– See “Hot Time in Old Town Tonight” minstrel show April 4 and 5, sponsored by the Meeker Lions Club.
– Marshal Sam Cron reminds the boys and girls in the Meeker community that the bicycle licenses are due April 1, and can be purchased at the City Hall from town clerk Roy Turner.
– Mr. and Mrs. Louis C. Reagle are announcing the engagement of their daughter Gail to Ronald Ray Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Miller of Meeker.
– For the Meeker city council there will be seven candidates running for the six places on the ticket: Roger Purdy, Dale Jens, Howard Joy, Dale Frisby, Odon Harris, John Oldland and Glen Miller.

n Meeker contractor Dale Jens will start tearing up the sidewalks next week for the downtown and Sulphur Creek improvement projects.
n “Towns and county receive mineral lease fund checks totaling $290,413”
n From the editor: “For the past 10 years or so, I’ve been one of those fortunate souls who’ve always escaped from Meeker during spring break. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out this year, but never again will we make that fatal mistake. It was cold wet, and miserable here and everybody left behind was envious of those who made it to warmer climates.”
n Dondi Clapper, daughter of Gene and Sharon Clapper of Meeker, will be honored as the outstanding sophomore student in the liberal arts field at the CNCC honors banquet.
n Chris, Peggy and John Strate drove to California for their spring vacation.

Rangely Times — 45 years ago
n Project Dragon Trail will be completed in March 1968. Dragon Trail will consist of detonating a 40 kiloton nuclear device near the base of the Mancos “B” gas zone at a depth of approximately 2,700 feet. The test is planned in an area 17 miles south of Rangely and west of Douglas Creek. The predicted effects indicate a gas production increase of six to eight times that of a conventional well in this area.

n Mr. and Mrs. George Wilczek announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Cathy Ann Jones, to Ken James Thorsted.
n Marine Corporal Anthony E. Badeaux, son of Savannah J. Steele of Rangely, has been promoted to his present rank while serving with the 3D Force Service Support Group, on Okinawa.
n A public meeting will be held in the Rangely Junior High School auditorium, at which time representatives of the Colorado River Water Conservation District and the Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce will make a presentation outlining proposals for the construction of a dam and reservoir east of Rangely.

n Don and Kathy Collier attended the wedding reception for their son, Lee Collier, and his wife, Karen, Saturday.
n Hans Parkinson is the new golf course professional at Cedar Ridges Golf Course.
