Wrestling for the Cowboy Wrestling Club, Joe LeBlanc, a Meeker High School graduate and four-time All-American for the University of Wyoming, qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City, Iowa, April 21-22.
LeBlanc, along with club teammates Michael Martinez and Chris Pendleton, qualified in the final U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Saturday last.
Wrestlers had to place first or second to qualify. LeBlanc finished second at 84 kilograms/185 pounds, beating Michael Connor (OCU Stars) 7-0, 5-0, Enock Francois (Team Florida) 0-1, 2-0, 2-1, Terry Madden (NYAC), 0-4, 1-0, 3-1, then Kurt Brenner (Mountaineer WC) 0-1, 2-0, 3-1 before losing to Tryel Todd (New York AC) 5-0, 2-0.Martinez also finished second in the 55 kilograms/121 pounds and Pendleton won the title at 96 kilograms/211 pounds.
