Rangely

Home of: Terry and Christy Lancaster

RANGELY | Longtime Rangely residents Terry and Christy Lancaster are this week’s “home of” honorees.
“Terry was born in Vernal, grew up in Dinosaur and has lived in Rangely since our Sept. 9, 1969, marriage, except for April 1970 to May 1973 when in the Marines on their rifle team. Terry was a ‘distinguished shooter’ in the Marines and traveled around on the shooting team. We lived in California, Virginia, Ohio and Tennessee,” Christy explained.
After the service, Terry worked for Kump in the oil field, then at Rangely Conoco and later hauled frac tanks for Brady Construction for three years. The Lancasters purchased Rangely Conoco in 1983 and operated it until 1995. Besides working at Rangely Conoco, Christy was a homemaker and raised their three children. She was also a 911 dispatcher for the Rangely Police Department for seven years.
After they sold the Conoco station, Terry was a well pumper for Coastal/El Paso Energy which was bought by EnCana. Terry quit EnCana in 2006. Then he was a safety class instructor for Alliance Energy for a couple of years.
Terry and Christy have three children: son Jeremy Lancaster, his wife Jen, daughter Rylie and sons Gavin and Grant of Grand Junction; daughter Laurel Lane and her daughters Rachel, Carrie, Gracie and Hayden also of Grand Junction; and daughter Lendy Lancaster and her daughter Maddie and son Caleb of Rangely.
“We live to travel and we golf and we just putter around our yard. We’ve been in about 36 of our 50 states including Hawaii and Alaska and hope to visit them all. We also spend time with our family. Besides our kids, we have a lot of family in Rangely. Terry’s brothers and sisters-in-law Dave and Rita Lancaster and Mike and Deb Lancaster, my sister and brother-in-law Becky and Marvin Noel, and my brother and sister-in-law Rodger and Deb Polley also live here plus my brother Vernon Powell and his wife Nakina live in Blue Mountain,” Christy said.
“We love the quietness of Rangely. It’s like we have our own private golf course, rec. center and park. No crowds to contend with. We love our small town, it’s home,” Christy added.
