Home of: Paul and Sharon Conrad

RANGELY | Longtime Rangely residents Paul and Sharon Conrad are this week’s “home of” honorees. Paul and Sharon were married 50 years ago Aug. 4, 1962, in DeCatur, Ind. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary by traveling to Denver for a family get-together.
The Conrads moved to Rangely in 1967 when Paul accepted an instructing and coaching position at Colorado Northwest Community College. “I taught intro to physical education, first aid, intro to officiating, intro to education, techniques of coaching baseball and basketball and several other courses at the college. I was their basketball and baseball coach,” Paul explained.
“I worked as a PBX operator (a switchboard operator) when Paul was in college. I worked off and on at CNCC doing secretarial work as needed, was a secretary for county extension for three years and later cooked at for Radino,” said Sharon.
The Conrads have four children: daughter Dawn Hoffman, her husband Jon, their daughter Kelsey and twins; daughter Kirsten and son Kordel of Fresno, Calif.; daughter Kim Lilja and her daughters Jordan and Jenna of Centennial, Colo.; son Rusty Conrad, his wife Jennifer and their son Kyle of Tucson, Ariz.; and daughter Kiki Bradford and husband Chris of Roanoke, Texas. Kiki and Chris have three sons: Chance (Espie), Christopher and Collin.
“We’ve liked that Rangely has been a small, safe town to raise your kids in. We love the small town atmosphere. I was raised in a town a whole lot smaller than this, so Rangely has been a good fit and it’s our home,” added Sharon.
