Home of: Joseph and Darcy Flores

DINOSAUR | Joseph and Darcy Flores of Dinosaur are this week’s “home of” honorees.
“We have lived in northwest Colorado for 11 years but in Dinosaur for nearly four years in May,” stated Darcy. The Flores’ will celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary in June.
Joe works for the National Park Service. He is the fire management officer (FMO) for Dinosaur National Monument. Darcy is a housewife, mother and secondary educator.
“We are both active in our church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We find joy and happiness by serving in different capacities for our faith,” said Darcy.
Joe and Darcy have two children: daughter Elsie and son Reid. They also have a black Lab named Max.
“Between Joe’s family and mine we have 70 nieces and nephews. Family is an integral part of our lives. Whenever possible we love to be with our families. Joe likes to hunt, spend time with his children, ride ATVs, camp, target shoot, run, weight lift, travel with family, watch movies and HO scale model trains. I keep busy with homeschooling our children, massage therapy, taking Max on jogs, love to coach sports and keep books for sporting activities. I enjoy baking, traveling with my family and watching movies with Joe. Joe and I were able to travel to New York City to watch our 11-year-old nephew perform in a lead role on Broadway. Our nephew is continuing his career in another incredible production in the next while,” Darcy explained.
“We enjoy small towns. It’s easy to meet new people here and friendly. The Rangely rec center has a great program for the youth. So many activities to keep kids busy and engaged in learning a new sport or having fun with different activities. We like outdoor activities, hiking around the monument and camping in the surrounding area. We try to ‘bloom where we are planted.’ Life takes different turns and wherever we are as a family that is our home. We strive to enjoy whatever area we are in and all that it offers. We feel fortunate to be here in the Rangely area,” Darcy added.
