MEEKER I When the Meeker Town Board next tends to business on April 4, the face of long-time Meeker resident Bryce Ducey will take his seat for the full meeting as the newest member of the board of trustees.
Ducey was elected by vote of the town board members present April 18, with the exception of absent board member Rodney Gerloff. He was sworn into office by Town Clerk Lisa Cook and took his seat on the board. Also seeking appointment to the single open seat was Meeker native Lee Overton.
“I think the town is undergoing exciting changes, and, with the new infrastructure toward Curtis Creek, I believe there are a lot of decisions that will need to be made,” Ducey said. “I believe I owe much to the town of Meeker and I want to give back to the town and its residents.”
Ducey, 27, is married to the former Kendra Sullivan and they have one child. Daughter Harper is 10 months old.
Ducey was born in Rangely and moved to Meeker when he was 6 years old. After Meeker High School, he attended mechanic school in Fort Collins and is now a journeyman electrician with the family business, Ducey Electric.
“With the town I would like to see the emphasis continue to support local businesses,” Ducey said. “The town has been very good with local support and I believe the strength of local business is the lifeblood of any community.”
When not at work or playing husband or father, Ducey said he likes golf, hunting and fishing. He particularly offered accolades for the local golf course.
“I am awfully grateful and humbled that the town board appointed me to this seat,” Ducey said. “I am also impressed with Lee Overton; he is a friend and would have made a good board member, too. Hopefully, he will run for election next time.
“I would also encourage any member of the community to contact me with any concerns, problems or issues they have and I will do what I can,” he said.
