EDITOR’S COLUMN: Find the good

It’s a frigid, snowy February morning. That right there is enough to throw me out of gear. Add accidentally dropping a pair of socks in the toilet, the 14-year-old dog having a messy accident on the carpet (why is it always on the carpet, never on the hard floor?), and a lengthy list of tasks I’d really rather avoid, and my Wednesday appears preset for stress. Not to mention all the usual triggers: politics, climate, pandemic, economy, etc.

Ever have days like that, when everything seems to be going awry? It’s easy to get discouraged in the midst of all the drama, but yielding to negativity accomplishes nothing beneficial. If all you see is bad, if you never have anything nice to say, maybe the bigger problem is not external, maybe it’s internal.

Find the good. Embrace it. Repeat.
