In May, the non-profit group moved into the home-turned-office adjacent to First Baptist Church, which oversees the youth ministry.
InStep leader Beth Scoggins said she had been thinking about a mission project for several months for the middle and high school students, but when New Eden rented the house, she decided the group could start by working next door.
“There are a lot of ways to help right here in Rangely,” Scoggins said. “We wanted the kids to see they don’t have to travel to another state or country to make a difference.”
New Eden Director Melissa Norman said the work effort was more than a community-service project.
“The kids helping us showed how much they care about the people in this community and the ministry,” she said. “It shows their commitment to what they believe about helping others and living out their faith.”
New Eden provides free guidance by trained volunteers, material assistance for pregnant women and babies, post-abortion support and referrals, among other services.
The office is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays.
