Beef raising, a recognized Colorado industry, is in the midst of a profitable season. Beef on the hoof has lately sold at $7 a hundred at Chicago stock yards, the highest October price since 1884.

Henry Stadtman, of Angora, was in town yesterday and reports everybody serenely happy down this way– both candidates and voters.

Three freshmen at college were discussing the incomes of their fathers. One said: My father writes a song in an evening and takes it downtown the next morning and sells it for $25.

Mr. and Mrs. Willis Smith who have been spending some weeks in Meeker visiting Mr. and Mrs. A L Gourleu, left last Saturday for their home at Long Beach, Calif.

Vern Amick of Orange, Calif. Accompanied by a couple of his friends who have been coming to Meeker for hunting for about 20 years, arrived here Friday of last week. They are staying at the Amick ranch on the mesa, visiting with Vern’s brother, Harold and family while here are also visiting with Vern’s father, Arthur Amick and wife Patty. 

Meeker Community Concert members are reminded of the first concert of the season Saturday, Nov. 16, when at 8:00 P.M. Polynesia, a dance festival from the exotic South Seas

The Miles for Smiles mobile dental van provided oral health care services to 190 children in Northwest Colorado during its recent initial visit to the area, providing low cost care to uninsured children who fall through the cracks of public assistance. 

The Meeker High School FCCLA put on their annual “Trick-or-Treat for Canned Food Drive” on Saturday, dressing up in Halloween costumes and going door to door seeking donations of non-perishable food items for the local food bank.

The Rangely Christian Church Fellowship Hall will be the site of the annual Harvest Festival. The hall will be converted into a carnival atmosphere with game booths and plenty of prizes to be won!

Andrew and Sarah Crookston are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter Brooke Lauren born on September 22, 1999. Her grandparents are Clark and Brenda Crookston of Rangely.
