The Denver papers announce the appointment of James Lyttle as chief game warden for this district.
Come to think of it, there can be no doubt that any effort to abbreviate 1900 will surely come to naught.
Owen O. Jones of Powell Park has been in this valley for fifteen years, and has witnessed wonderful improvements in that time, but he says he expects to see more improvements in the next two years than in the last fifteen.

The Midwest well at Rangely has been shut down for about a week due to lack of fuel. Drilling will be resumed in a few days.
Moffat County received eight feet of snow the previous week, the Craig Empire reports.
Grant Fletcher, one of Rangely’s pioneer settlers, was a business visitor to the upper county last week.

Meeker wrestling fans watched a long awaited victory over Steamboat Springs by a breathtaking score of 22-21.

A division of water resources of the U.S. Geological Survey, directed by the manager here, Vernon Norman, was established in Meeker last summer. Employing ten people, the water resource division gathers data on water quality and quantity in northwest Colorado.

After several years of delays, the proposed remodeling of the Meeker fire station continues to be snarled in a bureaucratic cat fight between the Town of Meeker, the state Department of Transportation, and the Rio Blanco Fire District.
Last Wednesday, a local rancher and his cowboys moved a herd of cattle through town. It may look old fashioned, but driving the animals is still the easiest, safest, and most economical way to transport small herds a short distance.
Meeker’s second annual Cowboy Poet gathering will be held Saturday February 26th with two shows. Both shows will be held in the High School Auditorium.

McIntire-Quiros of Colorado, Inc. was selected as the engineering firm to inspect and improve Rangely’s water treatment facilities, by the town board, January 14th.
The Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce recently sponsored a contest among the Senior High School English Students soliciting slogans to best represent Rangely for bumper stickers. Selected by the Chamber’s Board of Directors as the winning entry was Jerry Patton’s “Colorado Runs on Rangely Oil” and he will receive a First Prize of 10.00.
Rangely school youths are in for a treat next Monday, January 27, when Miss Dona Cornforth will be telling them of her visit to Belgium.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Colorado Foundation and Kids in Need of Dentistry (KIND) have worked together to create the Miles for Smiles program to address the crisis of oral health neglect in underserved populations in Colorado.
The girl’s season is underway with three exciting games against Meeker at home this past Saturday.
