Work on the new mesa ditch is progressing rapidly these days–in fact it has been progressing satisfactorily all winter, but it will not be finished in time to do any good this spring.

“Old Sol” is getting some very good licks PA Hausser of Strawberry was in town forepart of the week having his alfalfa seed cleaned. Mr. Hausser has had much success with this crop the past few years and there is always a market for alfalfa seed at a good price. 

A large congregation was in attendance at St. James Church last Sunday to hear and welcome the new minister–Rev Robert C Topping, who made a favorable impression on all who heard him. 

March came in like a “lamb” instead of like the proverbial “lion” and has remained that way all week.

Expecting an easy warmup for last Thursday night’s district tourney clash with Rangely, Aspen was nearly eliminated in a Wednesday night contest by the Meeker Cowboys who had gone 18 games without posting a win. 

District Forest Rangers on the White River National Forest have plans to advertise and sell an estimated 16.3 million board feet of forest products within the next 12-month period. 

When the snow is still on the ground it’s hard to conjure up the memory of a still summer’s night with the sweet fragrance of flowers drifting on the evening air.

Over 40 young wrestlers filled the wrestling room at the high school Monday night to begin preparing for their upcoming tournament schedule, and most of those were first through third graders, between 80-100 pee-wees will make up the program. 

It was intended to be a brief low-key scheduling conference between the county commissioners and Utah state business development specialists, to map out a schedule for important public meetings and milestones in a $1 million study to determine the feasibility of building a railroad from eastern Utah to Rifle.

The Colorado State Patrol reported an accident on Colorado 64 in February which occurred at 2:45 p.m.

Let me publicly congratulate a neat bunch of guys, the Rangely High School Basketball squad. After a tremendous season you have given us all something to talk about and with that, a little investment of pride in our town.

When you sit down to watch the news or read the paper, you are inundated with scandal. It seems as if the gap between the government and the people is widening each and every day. 

Coming off of their season ending five game winning streak, the Rangely Varsity lady Panthers began the district tournament last Tuesday against the Meeker Cowboys. Once again the Panthers proved that they were the better team and went on to a 61-26 victory.
