There is an effort on foot to extend the Sheridan ditch so that it will cover several ranches above town, and also continue it down the river so that it will cover a number of good ranches in Strawberry. We hope this enterprise goes through as it would bring a lot of valuable land in the vicinity of town under cultivation.
We had two inches of snow last Monday afternoon, since which time lovely spring weather has been our portion in these parts.
A Chicago man has claimed a bounty for killing a wolf inside the boundaries of that city.

Glen Ruby, the geologist for the White River Development company, was here most of the week. The company’s new steel rig will be finished this week and drilling started probably next week.
A large number of Meeker people attended the dance given at Powell park last Friday night.

Range Call president T.K. (Bud) Holland has announced a meeting for Thursday. The committee will try to establish the third Thursday of each month as their regular meeting date.
Word was received in Meeker Saturday that Mr. and Mrs. Loren Idol and Loren’s mother were involved in a car accident which resulted in Mrs. Nellie Idol receiving a fractured leg.
Mr. Purdy retired from the White River Electric Association at the end of 1974 and although “Rich” Richardson is the new manager, Purdy will still be with White River Electric in an advisory capacity until the middle of this year.

Meeker has enough senior citizens to support an assisted living facility. And many of these citizens can afford to pay the typical costs of living in such a facility.
Meeker police on March 3 stopped an Arizona can on Highway 13 and discovered 23 Mexican nationals in the vehicle. All 23 were turned over to the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
Also during the March 21 meeting, the trustees will hold a public hearing about a proposal to prohibit any more business entryways from any street in the central business district.

Micheal Troy Mobley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Mobley of Rangely will celebrate his first birthday today.
The first Girl’s Basketball Tournament was held in Rifle Saturday with four Northwestern League teams participating.

When you sit down to watch the news or read the paper, you are inundated with scandal. It seems as if the gap between the government and the people is widening each and every day.
Coming off of their season ending five game winning streak, the Rangely Varsity lady Panthers began the district tournament last Tuesday against the Meeker Cowboys. Once again the Panthers proved that they were the better team and went on to a 61-26 victory.
