Community News Roundup ~ March 27, 2025

Greetings, dear readers!

Does it feel like time is going faster than ever? I thought it was just a sign of aging, but several of the young people I’ve talked to in the last few weeks shared a similar sentiment. Perhaps it’s the result of too many distractions!

Colorado Public Radio published a great story this month about “wind phones.” The concept originated in Japan, where it’s called Kaze No Denwa, or The Telephone of the Wind. A Japanese man found a way to cope with the loss of his cousin by setting up an old-fashioned phone booth in his garden where he could go “talk” to his family member.

The idea caught on, much like the little free libraries, and there are now multiple variations on the theme around the globe. It makes me wonder where all those old pay phones disappeared to, and if they could be repurposed as wind phones. There are currently seven wind phone locations in Colorado.

And now, on to the news!
