Several of the street crossings are in wretched shape and need replacing. Why not put in a few more of stone? They’re cheaper in the long run when put in properly.

The work of enlarging the Sheridan ditch is progressing as fast as 10 men can do the work. It will not be completed through town for this season’s early irrigating, however.

The past week’s weather was as varied as could be possible. Cool and cloudy was the main feature, while it tried hard on several occasions to rain and snow with poor success.

Ralph Tagert, Reginald Nichols, and Morris Amick left last Thursday for breaks of Miller Creek where they hunted until Sunday, returning with two good size black bears.

Two five-ton trucks of cement consigned to the Midwest Well at Rangely passed through Meeker Wednesday.

Billy Paul Davidson, son of Glee Davidson, former pharmacist at the Rexall Store, was visiting his boy friends and having a big time last Saturday and Sunday. Billy says, “Rifle is alright, but I sure stand up for Meeker.”

Next Wednesday, April 23, Meeker will host the Large Group Music Festival with 26 bands performing at the high school auditorium and 21 choirs at the Freeman Fairfield Center.

Using the theme American Heritage, the Meeker Woman’s Club this week sponsored an art show of student work under the instruction of Lora Irwin at Meeker High School.

Mrs. Sam Love recently accepted employment at the local BLM office as an additional secretary. She had previously been assisting part-time in the County Planning Office.

The Meeker High School Junior-Senior Prom was held last Saturday in the Fairfield Center. Matt Brennan and Julie Amick were crowned King and Queen respectively.

Fourteen little Cowboy wrestlers traveled to Steamboat Springs last Saturday to wrestle in the final pee-wee tournament of the year. Nine of the wrestlers placed in the top three of their division to finish the year.

Cowboy freshman Trent Randall traveled with his dad and classmate Tyrell Turner to the eastern slope to wrestle in a freestyle tournament at Weld Central High School. Trent won the gold medal.

Bill and Ruth Miller’s Gambles Store was broken into early Friday morning and burglars got away with a .22 Rifle and over $50 in change. No one has been arrested.

The Spring Fine Arts Festival, held Sunday at CNCC was termed a success by the sponsoring Rangely Garden Club. Over 300 works of art, including pottery, macrame, crafts and all types of painting were displayed.

The scenery on Highway 40 will be improving soon as the construction of a new Conoco station gets underway in Dinosaur.

During the first week of April, the Colorado Division of Wildlife stocked both Kenney Reservoir and Wolf Creek pond. Kenney Reservoir received approximately 6,000 12 to 14 inch rainbows, while Wolf Creek pond received approximately 2,500 10 inch rainbows.

Crowning of the Prom Queen Brenda Bell and King Mark Skelton was the icing on the cake of the Grand March for the Rangely High School prom last Saturday night. 

Rangely will be sponsoring the second round of the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Associations’-Rocky Mountain region vintage trials and motocross series on Saturday, April 29, and Sunday, April 30 at the second annual Rangely Vintage Days.
