Meeker School Board approves Holliday as elementary principal

MEEKER The Meeker School Board of Education held a special meeting and work session last week, where they approved Shana Holliday, the current music and art teacher at Meeker Elementary School, to become the school’s next principal.

Holliday will finish the 2024–25 school year in her current role before beginning her duties as principal at the start of the 2025–26 school year.

“Thank you very much, I’m very excited,” Holliday said after the vote.

Superintendent Chris Selle informed the board that a vacancy notice had already been posted for the music and art teacher position.

The vacancy notice is scheduled to remain open until Thursday, May 1, in hopes of attracting quality applicants.

Following the approval of Holliday’s appointment, the board adjourned the special meeting and began its work session. During the session, board members accepted the resignations of Meeker High School girls head basketball coach Megan Shelton and assistant coach Greg Cravens.

Later in the meeting, Selle provided an update on the head coach position, informing the board there are currently three applicants interested in the role. He also noted that the high school boys head golf coach position remains vacant and will stay open until filled.

The next board meeting was held earlier this week and will be covered in next week’s edition.
