Sheriff Williams denies emphatically that he wrote the governor,game commissioner or anyone else that the Utes were in this county on a game slaughtering expedition.

Meeker boys play their first game at Hayden today with Hayden High.
A cloudburst Sunday night in the region of lower Powell Park did considerable damage to the Oldland dugway and other lower White River roads.
Joe Kracht seems awfully quiet about the arrival of a new “hay hand” at his ranch home early last week. Just the same Joe and Mrs. Kraft are now in possession of a fine baby boy.

From now on, most high school boys will not have to enter military service until they have been graduated.
The local high school fans and supporters of our high school will get to see their first home game on Friday afternoon of this week. The Oak Creek Miners are coming to Meeker to play with the Rio Blanco County High School Cowboys with Coach Paul Starbuck.

Now that school is in session and youth are out on the street traveling by bicycle, foot-power and car to their destinations, traffic violations are numerous. Foremost in the minds of the law enforcement agency is the possibility of a child’s death or injury.
Fishing is good, but he wouldn’t say where! Elige Joslin of Meeker went fishing last Thursday and other than telling us how he caught this prize Rainbow and three others just like it before they broke the line and “took off,” he couldn’t or wouldn’t reveal the exact location other than to say he caught it on the South Fork.

Rangely School Board President Ken Parsons presented RHS Principal Mike Kruger with a plaque from the Boettcher Foundation honoring the school and recent graduate Pat Tolley and former graduate Chris Powell.
The Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office received a report Tuesday evening from a local outfitter who stated he had located the body of a deceased male in the Marvine Creek area located 30 miles east of Meeker. The deceased was believed to have been camping in the area for approximately one month.

Colorado Well Service’s new workover and drilling rig has been set up near the city park and a shrimp boil and fish fry is planned. Colorado Well Service is owned by Hershl Pilcher and Julius Poole.
Mrs. Joel (Sarah) Hogan was promoted to the position of Administrative Assistant to the Rangely Hospital Administrator Grange “Ed” Eaves.
