Democratic candidates for county commissioner: James W. Rector, W.S. Simons, Reuben Oldland, Henry Wilson, Ewin Amick, Harry Niblock, James Stevens.
Hardly a Western section but becomes vitally interested in the forestry question and the preservation of these reservoirs of nature, when once it is understood how intimately are connected the forests with the water supply of a country.
It is reported that the Roman Catholics are making fine headway in collecting funds for the erection of their church building.

Word came to town middle of the week that James Rector had discovered the body of a man near Rangely and asked that Coroner Farthing be called to the scene. Coroner Farthing, Deputy Coroner F.A. Carstens. Sheriff Miller and Sam Gourley left at once for Rangely to investigate the matter and returned to town Wednesday night with the particulars of the gruesome murder which was committed in the neighborhood of a month or six weeks ago. The body was that of Millard Fillmore Harris.
Despite the fact that the weatherman predicted a storm for Sunday or Monday of this week, we have been enjoying real White River Fall weather. With exception of a few short wind storms the days have been bright and clear.

Colorado big game hunting season will get underway at daybreak on Saturday morning of this week and continue for the next sixteen days. The season will take in three weekends which will give the working boys three Sundays of hunting without missing any time from their work.
The local Selective Service office this week received word that the following boys who went from this community have been discharged from the armed forces: George Coats, Eugene Wilson, George Deines, Elry Kincher, Keith Rector and Lance Steele.

Providing the spark for the MHS spirit this year are these six good-looking girls who will lead the support for the Cowboys as they tackle Aspen during their homecoming game: Tracy Fandrich, Annette Chambers, Kim Soper, Lois Englert and Amy Chambers.
The charred remains of an old-time ranch house are all that remain of a Saturday night fire that destroyed the old Cuppy Sanderson house, 13 miles south of town, last week. Fortunately no one was living there at the time of the accident. .

Donations for police dog Xaro’s replacement are starting to come in. Coastal energy’s representatives Bob Faircloth and Mickey King presented Sergeant Roy Kinney a check in the amount of $4,000.
I would like to voice what I think of your new paper. I think it’s really terrible. You can definitely tell that no one on staff cares anything for Rangely. We will greatly miss Sandy. At least she cared about us.
Cowboy running back Deloy Cook tried to get outside but Panther Keenan LeBleu jumped on Cook’s back and rode him out of bounds. Rangely’s JV team won the make-up game played Monday night at Starbuck Stadium 18-8.

Highway repair work in Glenwood Canyon and on the Douglas Pass road between Loma and Rangely could begin this fall as the result of
bids that were opened in Denver Thursday. Corn Construction of Grand Junction was the apparent low bidder on the Douglas Pass road project.
The Rangely Garden Club is locally joining forces with The Kidney Foundation of the Rocky Mountain Region in its annual Halloween “Trick or Treat” candy sales.
Individually wrapped pieces of Jolly Rancher kisses will be sold in one dollar bags.
