The handsome new Baer residence was formally opened last Thursday evening in brilliant splendor. Mr. Thomas Kilduff, manager of the Baer Cattle company, acted as host, and did the honors in a befitting manner.

Old “Crocked-Foot” an old wolf who has roamed the hills of lower White River past two decades was finally captured first of the week by Mr. Wagner of Douglass Creek after a long, hard night.
The wolf was brought to town on Thursday by Mr. Wagner. It measured seventy-two inches and is by far the largest wolf ever killed in this section. Mr. Wagner received $50 bounty from the county for his kill.
Clen Noftsger, Routt County rancher, shot and killed himself in the court room here today a few minutes after a jury in district court had found him guilty of a second offense prohibition violation charge. Noftsger evaded the authorities for a moment by as

The epidemic of flu which is sweeping Colorado the last few weeks, struck Meeker with a vengeance this past week. While possibly not as serious as the flu of twenty-five years ago, still it is the worst epidemic we have had since that time. The Meeker grade school was closed Monday morning after Supt. A.H. Price had conferred with the School Board and with the grade school faculty.
Mr. Jim TIlford and son have been working at the brick building on Main Street, next to the Harp truck line office this week. They have been building an office in the front of the building and getting it ready for Harry Harp to move his office and freight storage. As soon as the office is completed, Mr. Harp will move out of the corner building and the Independent Lumber company will start wrecking the old frame building. We understand that Mr. Tom Janes has taken a contract to wreck the old building this winter and the Independent Lumber company will start work on their new building first thing in the spring.

Tommy and Rowena Stotts, new owners and managers of Tommy’s Supper Club which opened for business in October, invite everyone to attend the Open House for their new restaurant, located two miles east of Meeker.
“The big problem with revegetation in this area is that there is no source of supply for natural seeds. It is this area we hope to help out.” That’s the challenge as Meeker’s new Upper Colorado Environmental Plant Center’s manager Glen Carnahan sees it along with several private, state and federal agencies who have contributed a little over $400,000 to construct the facility so far.

Arthur Sims of Rangely was taken to the University Hospital in Salt Lake City to recover from inhalation of poisonous gas fumes suffered in a rig explosion at a natural gas well 16 miles east of Mountain View, Wyoming, Monday.
Rangely citizens are being offered an excellent opportunity to help plan for the growth that is sure to come in the next ten years or sooner because of the energy developments now underway or planned. Meeker citizens, despite a public aversion to any growth, are to be commended for their industrious approach to federal and state funds available to communities on a grant or loan basis.

Last week, 5 Point Utility Development began laying the conduit for the fiber optics line that will run from Craig through Meeker and on to Rifle.
Ethel Starbuck and Joe Sullivan are Meeker’s newest astronauts. They both successfully completed the Elderhostel Astronaut Training Program in Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson, Kansas, Nov. 5-10.
There was 9.5” of snow on the Courthouse lawn Wednesday morning that made for bigger piles in the middle of Main Street.
