The Meeker VFW Women’s Auxiliary led a Veterans Day service in front of the Veterans Memorial statue in front of the Rio Blanco County Courthouse on Tuesday morning despite frigid temperatures. VFW Auxiliary President Vicki Crawford led the service, giving the history of Veterans Day, which started as Armistice Day to honor World War I veterans.
