The Delaney funeral was the largest ever seen in this county.
Weather conditions the past week were all that could be asked for. Sunshine from morn till night, and clear, cold nights — what more do you want?
Rangely was the center of a measles epidemic lately, and it seems everybody had them, over ninety cases being reported. There were a few cases in Meeker but it is not spreading.

Tom Ruckman was swapping talk with his many town friends first of the week. Tom says things in the Park look better than usual.
Mr. David Smith left today for an extended trip to Southern California where he will spend the balance of the winter.
Some of the radio lecturers act as if they thought people actually were sitting around and listening to them.

Meeker and the White River Valley has experienced one of the coldest Decembers in many years. The cold weather started back in November when we had one night 12 below zero. So far this month we have had a number of nights below zero.
A car-load of Meeker businessmen, comprising the inter-city committee of the Lions club, made a trip to Rangely on Tuesday of this week.
Mrs. S.D. Lyttle received word that her son, Captain George H. Lyttle, was married on Dec. 1, to Mrs. Maisie Caldwell. The wedding took place at the Community Church in Encadia just north of San Diego, California.

Two things bother a lot of people today. The first is that things won’t ever get back to normal; the second is that they already have.
Christmas came early for 24 boys and girls whose names were drawn for the free toy and game giveaway following last Saturday’s Christmas party and movie. Winners were: Jackie Brumback, Kevin Nye, Rodney Dunham, James White, Samantha Coulter, Shelette Tucker, Tyler Livingston, Teresa Steffen, Debbi Findlay, Namon Hawthorne, Kenny Hawthorne, Christopher Washburn, Chaundra Unrein, Joe Clare, Gary Hawthorne, Christa Benner, Sondra Frantz, Chris Curry, Suzanne Carstens, Tammy Frazer, Cathy Nielsen, Priscilla Gutierrez, Connie McGruder and Web Frantz.

The first three trucks of a 15-truck convoy arrived in Rangely Saturday from Sycamore, Illinois, with wire for the Moon Lake Electric Assn. power line from the White River to the C-a oil shale tract. Each roll of wire weighed approximately 10,000 pounds.
The computer is a great invention. There are just as many mistakes as ever, but they are nobody’s fault.
During the past month at the Campus Theatre, a gas heater was kicked loose from its base in the lobby, causing a dangerous situation, a number of seats were broken loose from the floor and seat cushions cut and torn up, toilets stopped up, etc., during show time.

Property owners in Rio Blanco County can breathe a sigh of relief. The 2001 budget was approved and the mill levy is still the fifth lowest in the state.
The Meeker Family Health Center announces the addition of Kellie B. Turner, M.D., to its staff. Dr. Turner graduated from Meeker High School in 1988. Dr. Turner is a family practitioner with special emphasis in women’s health care and pediatrics.
