The last official act for 24-year Rio Blanco County Clerk and Recorder Nancy Amick, right, on Tuesday morning was to swear in her successor, Boots Campbell, left, so Campbell could swear in the other Rio Blanco County officials elected in November.
Newly elected Rio Blanco County Sheriff Anthony Mazzola, left, swore his new undersheriff, Brice Glasscock, into office during the county ceremony on Tuesday. Glasscock, right, succeeds Mike Joos, who lost in the election for sheriff to Mazzola.
The county officials sworn into office on Tuesday are pictured in the photo to the right. In the back row, from left to right, are re-elected District 1 County Commissioner Shawn Bolton, new County Clerk and Recorder Boots Campbell and re-elected County Surveyor Jonathan “Leif” Joy. In the middle row, left to right, are re-elected County Treasurer Karen Arnold and re-elected County Assessor Renae Nielson; In the bottom row, from left to right, are newly elected Sheriff Anthony Mazzola and re-elected County Coroner Dr. Albert Krueger.
The second floor hallway right outside the County Clerk and Recorder’s Office was the location for the swearings-in, which were each administered one-on-one by Campbell. The small area was packed with the officials, their families, other county officials and other interested individuals.
The Rio Blanco County Clerk and Recorder’s Office held a public retirement party Friday afternoon for retiring County Clerk Nancy Amick, right, and her assistant, Jackie Brennan, left. Amick joined the office as a clerk in May 1984, and was first sworn in as county clerk and recorder in January 1991, the same day Brennan joined the office. Amick has been in the office for 30-1/2 years and Brennan for 24 years. Between them is a county ballot box, dating back to roughly 1889. The county approved the gift of the ballot box to Amick for her many years of service.
