Rube Ball returned from Glenwood Monday where he tried to boil out his rheumatism. Rube is still lame but much better.
In keeping with the usual custom of this town, the school election passed off quietly and without any friction Monday.
Postmaster Sheridan, a few days ago received a letter from Bill Huddleston (California Bill). Bill has been up in Alaska and has struck it rich, all of which will be glad news to his hosts of friends in this vicinity.

Piceance used to be known as the “Bachelors’ Own,” but the bachelors are fast losing their grip and if present indications can be relied on they will be driven to the wall before snow flies again. The ladies are coming in very fast this spring.
Poultry which is kept within the corporate limits of the Town of Meeker, shall be kept within properly constructed enclosures. If poultry is permitted to run at large upon the streets and alleys of the town, or if it is permitted to trespass upon the property of another, the owner of the poultry shall be subject to a fine of not less than $5 nor more than $10.
Bright clear days and cold nights have been the order of the week.

It was a grand afternoon in Meeker Wednesday as half the town turned out to honor Freeman Fairfield Day along with the special Centennial/Bicentennial ceremony. Open houses at the library and museum along with an art show at the Fairfield Center were also a part of the day’s celebration.
“I’ve never seen one before but I think it could have been a small twister,” said Anna Collins about the sudden but powerful windstorm that struck the upriver area Tuesday evening. Accompanied by hail and rain, the storm only lasted 15 minutes but caused an estimated $3,000 damage to the Clark Wix residence at the head of South Fork Canyon, 24 miles east of Meeker.

The Bicentennial year of 1976 will see Rangely High School graduate one of the smallest classes in recent history. Forty seniors will walk down the aisle to receive their diplomas on Tuesday, May 18.
Rangely Days Rodeo Junior Queen this year is Miss Judy Steele. Her attendances are Miss Linda Pacheco and Miss Brenda LeBleu.

Hunting and recreational rifle shooting around oil wells and holding tanks on the outskirts of Rangely concern Chevron officials and employees. Random shooting around the facilities scattered over Bureau of Land Management property “could be a catastrophe.”
Pat Hughes looked at the fresh sod brought in from his farm, Western Slope Sod, and laid on the new tee boxes on the second hole of Meeker’s nine-hole golf course. The new tee boxes are now being used and ready for the upcoming tournaments.
