• Discover the Parks. Program for children up to age 7 will meet at Foothills Park in Meeker today. You and your children can make new friends and enjoy active play with your kids. ERBM Recreation & Park District, 970-878-3403 with questions.

• Polynesian Fire Dancers. Friday at 8 p.m. at Town Park in Meeker.

• Gentleman’s Group. Meets at the Meeker Rec Center Lounge at 9 a.m. For adults 50+. Stop by for refreshments and conversation. ERBM Recreation & Park District 970-878-3403.

• Game Day. Wednesdays at 9 a.m. for adults 50+ at the Meeker Rec Center Lounge. Refreshments, conversation, and card games. ERBM Recreation & Park District 970-878-3403.

• New dental hygienist opens Meeker business. Kari Brennan, a registered dental hygienist, will hold an open house on Sept. 3 for her new business, White River Dental Hygiene, located at 73521 Hwy. 64 outside Meeker, just past Kum & Go.
The open house will be Sept. 3 from 6-8 p.m., and the Meeker Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
There will be refreshments, door prizes and music. The public is invited.

• Volunteers needed for sheepdog trials. Volunteers are needed to work the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials from Sept. 9-13 at Ute Park in Meeker.
It is a great way to meet people, have lots of fun and a great way to help you community.
Volunteers get free passes to the trials and food and drink is provided during your shift.

• Range Call Royalty tryouts Sept. 16. The Range Call Committee is looking for a Range Call queen and princesses for 2016. The winner will earn a $500 scholarship.
Tryouts for the girls and their horses will be held Sept. 16. For more information, interested girls should contact Lynn Carroll at 970-361-0960.
