Led by Jeff Hemingson, the district’s music director, the eighth grade band performed its scheduled songs in great form before a nearly packed Meeker High School auditorium. The concert featured bands from the sixth, seventh and eighth grades at Barone Middle School and the choir from Barone as well as the high school band and choir.
With the exception of the xylophone and the drums, back left, the Meeker High School band was pretty well filled up with wind instruments of all kinds. The high school band and the high school choir offered the highlights of the concert as they were able to show off their talents at the peak of the school progression from sixth grade on up.
Although there were only 12 in the Meeker High School Choir, the members combined efforts with strong voices and great selections to delight the audience. The group is led here by Jeff Hemingson, the Meeker School District’s music director, and the audience seemed to appreciate the performances and enjoyed hearing the differences between the musicians at each level.
Not large in numbers but with strong singing voices, the Barone Middle School Choir delighted the full crowd at Meeker High School with its repertoire of songs at the concert. Barone added some fun to the show as they sang a singer-active version of “This Old Man.”
The wind section of the seventh grade band was in good hands at the Dec. 15 Meeker School District Annual Winter Concert in the Meeker High School auditorium. Percussion instruments were at the back of the choir while a number of string incidents filled up the right side.
Jeff Hemingson, the music director for the Meeker School District, directs the sixth grade band during the district’s Annual Winter Concert at Meeker High School on Dec. 15 with bands and choirs from the middle school and high school.
