SEAN McMAHON Conditions were nearly ideal Sunday for the “I Ride with James” Snowmobile and Poker Run, which departed from Lost Deer Trailhead, just after the pavement stops on County Road 8. Roughly 200 riders enjoyed the shining sun and plenty of snow on the trails, which got a little soft as the afternoon went on.Above, friends and family of the Mike and Kathy Sizemore help prepare lunch or gather around to wait for the food during the fifth annual “I Ride With James” Snowmobile and Poker Run on Sunday up County Road 8 at Lost Deer Trailhead. More than 200 snowmobile riders took part this year and the winner of the grand prize, which was a Polaris 120 child’s snowmobile, in photo below, was Roger Foster.First place of $1,000 was won by Matt Hammer, second place of $500 in the poker run was Jan Nye and third place and $250 went to Brian Adee. The run, in memory of the Sizemore’s son, James, raises funds for two scholarships at Meeker High School and funds for Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue.
