RBC I Rio Blanco County Democrats will hold their County Assembly at the Western Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park Center, 620 South Stanolind in Rangely, at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Delegates to the Assembly were elected or nominated at the Democratic precinct caucuses held in Meeker and Rangely on March 1.
Rio Blanco County Democratic Chair Paula Davis of Rangely said, “We should have a good meeting in Rangely. Our Senate District 8 Democratic candidate, Emily Tracy, from Breckenridge, running against Sen. Randy Baumgardner, from Hot Sulfur Springs, is expected to be with us.”
“We are also expecting a discussion on mental health care as well as county budget issues,” she said. “All of us need some mental health care after suffering through this season of Republican presidential candidates.”
Davis added, “We will also be electing four delegates and alternates to the state Democratic Assembly/Convention, which will be held in Loveland on April 16.”
In addition to county Democratic Party officers: Davis, chair; Sandra Besseghini, vice chair; and Reed Kelley, secretary-treasurer; the assembly will be led by committee persons Mickey Allen, Daleen Hazelbush, Loyce Gibbs and James Claybaugh of Rangely, and Stacie Kincher, Sue Hicken, Judy Mohler and Joe Dungan of Meeker.
A representative from U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet’s office is expected to attend as well. Resolutions on priority issues at the county, state and federal level will be considered.
