Donkey basketball…

Trina Smith played on the community team on April 20 during the Meeker Future Farmers of America fundraising Donkey Basketball game in the MHS auditorium. The contest pitted MHS students against the community (adults). The community (old folks) jumped to a big lead in the second quarter, and while the students tried to mount an attack during the second half, they came up short by two points.

A good crowd was on hand the evening of April 20 as the Meeker Future Farmers of America set up a game of donkey basketball at MHS pitting students against the community (adults). Above, MHS Principal Amy Chinn is caught with the ball as she is surrounded by players on both sides. After four quarters of play, the community team won by the narrowest of margins. They took a big lead in the second quarter and while the students spent the rest of the game nearly closing the gap, time ran out on their hopes to beat, as one student put it, “the old folks.”

Being mostly parked under the basket on the students’ end of the basketball court put MHS student Ty Dunham in good position to score. However, this is one of the few shots that Dunham actually made during the Meeker FFA benefit fundraiser event on April 20 in the MHS gymnasium. Despite a strong second-half attempt to overcome the community team (old folks), the students came up just a few points short.
