As if getting showered by pastel paint powder during the course of the ERBM Recreation & Park District Paintbrush Rush Color Run on Saturday wasn’t enough color, the race participants threw powdered dye into the air for the color explosion finale.
Saturday was sunny, warm and humid so it was no wonder the children (and a few adults) converged on the new foaming bubble machine that was well utilized during the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Park and Recreation District’s annual summer Community Appreciation Day. There were hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, cookies and other goodies served by the Meeker Lions Club, and the musical entertainment was presented by the Matt Holliday and the Machine band. Several hundred people took part in the festivities, which ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
When the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District held its Community Appreciation Day on Saturday on the courthouse lawn in Meeker, several hundred residents and visitors to Meeker took part in the festivities. This huge bouncy structure was one of many new objects the recreation district had on hand. In addition, there were all kinds of games and things to do such as a volleyball tournament and a color run in which runners were doused with dye as they proceeded through the course. The Meeker Lions Club also fed the several hundred in attendance hamburgers and hot dogs, lemonade, potato salad, chips and cookies.
Four teams participated in the 3-on-3 grass volleyball tournament at the ERBM Recreation & Park District’s Community Appreciation Day event on Saturday in downtown Meeker. The team of, from left to right, Winter Blazon, Donald Blazon and Natosha Clatterbaugh came away with the championship title.

These two girls had fun beating the living daylights out of each other on Saturday at the ERBM Recreation and Park District’s annual Community Appreciation Day where food, fun, games and face painting were a part of the action.
