Rio Blanco County Fair moves into full swing today

RBC I Various fair-related events have been ongoing for more than a week now, but the Rio Blanco County Fair kicks into full gear today as livestock and other exhibits open to the public this evening after being closed most of the day for final judging.

Today, all the exhibit halls are closed for judging until 6 p.m. with all open indoor exhibits to be accepted by 9 a.m.
Livestock action today begins at 9 a.m. with the Swine 4-H/FFA Showmanship classes. Also at 9, all indoor exhibits, coloring and cover contest entries are due.
At 1 p.m. are the Beef 4-H/FFA Showmanship classes followed at 6 p.m. by the Swine 4-H/FFA Market classes.
Also from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., the exhibit halls will be open for viewing and the indoor silent auction begins.
On Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the exhibit halls will be open for viewing and silent auction bidding will be ongoing.

4-H/Open Breeding classes.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Rio Blanco County Woolgrowers will be selling their lamb kabobs outside the 4-H Community Center.
At 1 p.m. are the Sheep 4-H/FFA Showmanship classes followed by Market classes followed by the 4-H/Open Breeding classes.
The annual fair Talent Show will hold its talent check-in at 3 p.m. No late entries will be accepted. The show is open to everyone and will be held outside.
From 4 to 6 p.m. will be the Open/4-H Talent Show and 4-H Fashion Show.
At 5 p.m. will be the Rio Blanco County Stockgrowers’ Barbecue, and that will be followed at 6 p.m. by the Beef 4-H/FFA/Open Breeding classes will be followed by Market classes.
Saturday’s fun begins at 9 a.m. with the exhibit halls open for viewing and the continued silent auction bidding.
Also at 9 a.m. is the Sheep Lead Contest in the 4-H building.
At 10:30 a.m. is the 4-H/FFA Round Robin competition. At the same time is the Cloverbud Show & Tell, being held in the Exhibit hall.
The Pet Rock Contest, which will be held in the front parking lot, begins at 11 a.m., and that will be followed at noon by the Rabbit Chase, held on the track in front of the grandstands. All contestants must be aware that they are expected to keep any rabbits caught.
Also beginning at noon and running until roughly 3 p.m. is the Li’l Buckaroo Rodeo (register in the breezeway by the grandstands).
From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., the Meeker Lions Club Barbecue will be held under the grandstands, sponsored by the Bank of the San Juans in Rangely.
At 5 p.m., the Indoor Silent Auction will close and the exhibit hall will be closed from 5 to 6 p.m.
In the sale area at 5:30 will be 4-H bake sale and that will be followed by the top event of the fair, the 4-H/FFA Livestock Sale in the 4-H Community Center.
