MEEKER I Last week’s headline in the Rio Blanco Herald Times regarding school finance contained an inaccurate interpretation of information made available by the school district, Superintendent Chris Selle said.
The Meeker School District will not be carrying forward $875,000 from the 2015-16 school year. Because the final 2015-16 budget assumed a deficit, the actual carry forward amount is likely to be somewhere between $400,000 to $500,000.
The specific carry-forward amount will not be confirmed until the annual financial audit for the school district is completed later this calendar year.
The school district will be engaging in efforts to encourage public input regarding appropriate uses of these additional funds, Selle said.
