Rangely golfers posted three of their lowest scores of the season as they participated at the Fruita Monument High School invitational at Redlands Mesa on Tuesday and then they played at home in a triangular with Vernal and Craig on Thursday. Harrison Heil started the week with a personal best at Redlands with a score of 81. After going six over on the first four holes, he played great golf shooting three over on the next 14 holes. Austin Ficken also had one of his better scores of the season on an extremely tough course with a 101. Phil Sheridan, from Meeker, shot a 99 which will move him into the number two spot on the team. Marshall Webber and Caleb Noel were not available to play in this tournament. Thursday was a very good day for the Panthers as they won the triangular with a season best team score of 275. Ficken carded a career score of 86 which was also the second best score of the day. Craig’s number one shot a 75. Webber also had a career best of 91 and Sheridan was right on their tail with a season best of 94. Noel had some very good hitting holes but struggled a little on the greens, he shot a 113. “The kids are starting to hit a good stride and are doing it at the right time as Regionals are on the 19th,” coach Mark Skelton said.
