“911: What is your emergency?” County switches to new 911 information system

RBC | What’s your emergency?
In the event of an emergency, how much personal information would you reveal to first responders?
Behind banks of computer screens, 24 hours a day, dispatch operators are on standby for every conceivable emergency call. No one wants to call 911, but when there’s a need we want the dispatcher on the other end of that call to have the best information to send us the right kind of help…

  1. You know updating the system like this is great, however it would all work better if the town were to be updated with E911 addressing. All this money spent on nifty new tech would best, first be spent, getting the addressing were Fire and Rescue can actually find you!

Currently all the phones in the River Bend Mobile Home Park, more than 20 homes all display as 910 Water Street. Not very helpful with park covers 3 blocks on 3 different streets and runs from 8th Street to 10th. I was told this by the county mapping department, who called the 911 Center to confirm it was the same on their system. I was told at the time that the Commissioners just would not approve fixing the addressing.

Just for perspective, this was done about 20 years ago in other areas.
