– All parents who have not returned their baby registration cards please do so at once. The committee is anxious to get them all in by Nov. 15.
– There are still a large number of “flu” cases in Meeker, but seem to be well in hand. Judging by the press dispatches Meeker and Rio Blanco County have been fortunate—so far.

– A firecracker by the name of Ed Harp ignited the Meeker Cowboys in the second half to a 27-19 come-from-behind victory at Rangely Friday night.
– Construction of 10 earth-fill dams at the Blacks Gulch located about 20 miles west of here north of Rio Blanco Lake, is planned by the Bureau of Land Management.

– Rio Blanco County Commissioners received an economic shot in the arm from voters after their ballot issue to increase the mill levy by 1.33 mills passed 680-561.
– All sorts of strange types were out for Sunday evening’s Halloween festivities. In addition to mild seasonal temperatures, it was a quiet and safe night as well, with no incidents of any kind reported this year.
– Together Everyone Achieves More, and that’s just what the Meeker volleyball TEAM did last Saturday in taking District tourney honors at Carbondale.
– While Friday’s 41-7 rout of the Aspen Skiers found the Meeker offense running at will the Cowboy defense didn’t look too shabby either.

– An enterprising young man from New York State and four or five willing helpers are now operating their own radio station on the Rangely College campus. Pointed directly toward the 400-student campus, the enterprise could be the first step toward a full-time radio station in Rangely. Winkler and his crew are amazed and are extremely careful to prevent any mishaps or bloopers which might curtail the operation.
– One of the hardest secrets for a man to keep is his opinion of himself.
– Twenty-one names of northwestern Colorado residents have been submitted to the College Board for consideration to be honored by having Rangely College buildings named after them. The names were selected by a Rio Blanco County Historical Society committee.

– Names were drawn for prizes at the Recreation Center for the fourth annual Pumpkin Decorating Party. Jeno Duff will be telling time on his animal watch, Jace Murphy will eat a hamburger and fries at Chism’s, Kevin Hejl will be watching a movie rental from Family Video, Amanda Piering will drink from her Halloween cup as she munches on her Dum Dum suckers, and Nick Anderson will enjoy a personal pizza and drink from Max’s Pizza.
– On returning to open meeting, Trustee Terry Smalec said that because “we have a cash flow problem” and because “we have asked department heads to cut costs” he moved to dissolve the RDA. Others expressed a disagreement. Trustee Ruth Fink asked if there were “not a middle ground” not to dissolve but to limit expenditures. Smalec withdrew his motion. Trustee Garth Condie offered a second motion: to check into dissolving the REA. The motion was defeated 3-2. Smalec then moved for the RDA to cease from any loans until a closer look is given to the financial situation and it passed unanimously.
