Deadline for board nominations this Friday

RBC | As election season churns along at a national level, here in Rio Blanco County residents have a few days left to self-nominate for a smorgasbord of, well, boards. Elections are set for May 5, 2020.

Local boards can directly affect the lives of residents in good and bad ways, and are directly responsible for managing funds that, in many cases, come directly from the pockets of taxpayers.

Friday, February 28, is the last day to submit required paperwork to Designated Election Officials (DEOs), and it’s prudent to submit packets at least a few days early in case of any problems.

The following local boards, in no particular order, have open seats available:

ERBM Recreation and Park District, two open seats (3-year terms)
WRBM Recreation and Park District, four open seats (three 3-year terms, one 2-year term)
Eastern Rio Blanco County Health Service District, better known as Pioneers Medical Center, three open seats (all 3-year terms)
Rangely Hospital District, three open seats (all three-year terms)
Rangely Rural Fire Protection District, four open seats (three 3-year terms, one 2-year term)
Rio Blanco Fire Protection District (Meeker), 3 open seats (all 3-year terms)
Meeker Sanitation District, five open seats (three 3-year terms, two 2-year terms)
White River Conservation District, two open seats (all 3-year terms)
Douglas Creek Conservation District, two open seats (all 3-year terms)
