Participants who live out of town pick up their meals at noon, and then the Chuckwagon ladies start on their first of four routes in Meeker, looping back to the Fairfield Center after each route to ensure meals stay hot. The average delivery per day is 45-60 meals.
In Rangely, bus drivers deliver meals first to the White River Village, then deliver around town. Radino serves 40-50 seniors per day.
Last week, concerned citizens attended a county budget workshop for White River Roundup (which encompasses both Chuckwagon and Radino senior nutrition programs) after potential changes were discussed at an Aug. 26 board of county commissioners budget work session. Citizens in attendance at last week’s workshop were assured no major changes would be made to the program.
